Diary of an Account Manager

The Account Manager profile occupies an outstanding place in any event management agency. This professional receives and manages all kind of enquiries and petitions of brands, potential and new customers. When asked to summarize their job, we find descriptions as this: “Working in the event industry means a total disruption with monotony; every day are complex and dynamic, none is similar to the previous or the next one.”

All Account Managers perform a series of daily operations and actions that allow them to organize and update their agendas and their projects’ status. Contact with clients and suppliers, elaboration of budgets, invoices, project proposals, or presentations, are some of their usual tasks.

But daily activity also involve to attend different meetings or appointments with clients, suppliers, other teams, both internal and external and sometimes through a video call with the different venues. And let’s not forget one of the most important tasks in the account manager work: site inspections. These visits are really useful to check all the possibilities of a given space or venue.

After the daily contact with clients, last-minute adjustments, petitions management, contingencies… It is the moment of truth: the day of the event where all the work accomplished before gets finally executed: client’s requirements, contact with suppliers, event production and management, timing checklist, guest list, etc.

In order to accomplish all these tasks successfully, account managers must be very organized, and possess a highly communicative and marketing-oriented profile to establish a fluid relation among clients, suppliers and members of their own team. They should know how to identify the needs of their clients in every project, and look after their interests during the whole process.
