“Now it is not enough to do the usual thing”

We speak with Marta del Rio upon the latest trends in event world and the importance of updating so professionals ensure that they can continue offering the latest technological advances to their clients.

What are the latest trends in corporate events?

Technology in events is increasingly in-demand on the part of our clients. Nowadays is mandatory to keep up to offer up-to-the-minute, fully bespoke events. Doing the usual thing is no longer worth or valid. We have to struggle to constantly surprise and innovate.

Small events vs big events: Could you name some of the advantages?

I would specially highlight the control you may have upon the final result and the capacity to react to contingencies. Besides, in smaller events, communication with your client is much more fluid, as usually there are one to two contacts and decision-making is even faster. Small events give you the opportunity to get to know the clients much more in depth and share every moment with them.

Do you think brands are truly committed to sustainable events management?

In general, all event professionals are aware of the importance of sustainability in events. And not only clients perceive this, but also their target audiences.

Are sustainable events the near future of this industry or there is still a long way to go?

Creo que, aunque hayamos avanzado, aún queda mucho camino por recorrer. Estoy segura de que dentro de no mucho este será uno de los retos principales en la organización de un evento.

Although we are a step forward, there is still a long way to go. I am sure that in a really near horizon this will be a priority and a major challenge in event management.

Which kind of event will provide you a higher level of personal and professional satisfaction?

It really catches my attention the fact of how much production does any event involve. Divisions, teams, personnel… people get surprise of what levels of work are sometimes behind ‘just four walls’ spaces. Every time I get more attention the events that take a lot of production, where each brand and each person has a very important and defined role to create spectacular assemblies in spaces where there are only “four walls”.
Being able to manage these events is the real challenge. Events where work, communication, and information among participants are essentials.
