beon. Worldwide and Madison MK organize the opening gala of the Seminci

More than 50 professionals accomplished a cut-edge ceremony which for the first time featured video mapping projections

The Valladolid International Film Festival celebrated its 62nd edition with an opening gala organized by beon. Worldwide and Madison MK, in charge of the general management, production, and execution of the inaugural SEMINCI event which welcomed around a thousand guests at the legendary Teatro Calderón. Madison agency was in charge of the event ‘green carpet’.

José Corbacho and Marta Nieto were the hosts in a gala that vindicated both the role of women in the film industry and the auteur filmmaking productions. In this sense, the event payed tribute to the Spanish actress Marisa Paredes and the Mexican film producer Arturo Ripstein.

beon. was responsible of the design and production of a stage set which included a 8×10 meter-high structure which held a 6 meter screen for video mapping projections. The main challenge of the stage design lied in the different elements forming the set structures, including a complex, exact adjustment of the set, so the backdrop could portray flawless video images.

The stage design included other two smaller set framing the main stage. beon. Was also in charge of the video production during the gala, and collaborated in the theater lighting and sound control.

Some of the big moments included the host performing a version of a traditional classic copla which tributed auteur filmmaking, and the image of actress Paz Vega, who presided over this 62nd edition, making a wise appeal to organizations and institutions “who claim to love the culture scene” to support the industry.

Pedro Almodóvar surprised everyone making a starring video apparition to praise the professional career of Marisa Paredes. The actress who worked in films such as Dark Habits, High Heels, The Flower of My Secret, All About my Mother, and The Skin In Live In. The famous filmmaker declared about Paredes: “I have watched Marisa performing on a stage before I became a film director. Since that moment I dreamt of working with her, and when I fulfilled that dream it surpassed my best expectations.” The honored actress thanked all participants and the Festival, that bestowed her with the Festival Honor award.

Some other important figures came up to the stage, such as the International Jury members: Spanish novelist, scriptwriter, and director Ray Loriga; scriptwriter and director Santiago Tabernero; the president of the Melbourne International Film Festival, Claire Dobbin; producer Uberto Pasolini; and Spanish producer Emma Lustres, who recognized the ‘big challenge ahead’ and thanked the Festival its wholehearted ‘support to auteur filmmaking, after 62 editions.’

The last professionals on stage were the crew members of the film The Bookshop, leaded by director Isabel Coixet, who introduced this picture accompanied by Bill Nighy and producers Jaime Banacolocha, Adolfo Blanco, and Albert Sagalés.

For the tenth year in a row, Madison MK participates in the organization of both opening and closing galas of the Valladolid International Film Festival, joined by beon. on this edition. The event has become increasingly global in the industry, nowadays involving 38 countries, more than 1,500 guests, 80,000 viewers, more than 50 media professionals, and a ROI over 4.5 million euros per year.
