Volar es humano, aterrizar es divino
Enrique Piñeyro represented in Madrid one of the great theatre successes of the Argentine stage in recent years. A piece of acid and intelligent humor that has been on the billboard for four years at Maipo theatre in Buenos Aires. Piñeyro is an actor, director, doctor, airline pilot, and air accident researcher. He worked for the company LAPA (Argentine Private Air Lines) for more than 10 years, where he denounced the bad management and the lack of maintenance of the aircraft fleet. With all these characteristics and experiences, Piñeyro creates a play divided in two different parts. The first one exposes the plane crash of Avianca flight 52, covering the route Bogotá-New York. The cause of this accident was based on a confusion between Spanish words and their translation into English. For the play, a real-life cabin simulator with three pilots and four LED screens were designed and built. In the second part, Piñeyro performs a stand-up comic monologue where he reconsiders about daily situations full of potential danger due to the failures and errors that exist in daily communication.
